HONORARY LIFE PRESIDENT ASCO's Hon Life President is John Horne, who accepted the title on his retirement as Chairman in October 2000. John was a founder member of ASCO and had been Chairman since December 1976. His interest in Singer started 1951 when he met someone who sang the praises of the Singer Sports car to such an extent that he went out and bought a 1935 Nine sports. He later found that the car had had a successful competition history in the nineteen thirties, the driver at the time being Norman Roundhill, who John later traced to his garage at Ashted in Surrey. Since then John has owned many Singers, mainly sports types dating from 1932 to 1937, most of which he raced and rallied and bashed around in driving tests, generally mistreating them! John has been for many years the ASCO Registrar for Lemans, Sports, and Saloons etc covering 1933 to 1939, a post he still holds. To contact John please use the website Message Pad |
