Price has been the ASCO Treasurer since
1997. He owns a 1933
"Nine" Saloon, which he purchased in 1976 and then took 16 years to
restore. John retired in 1997 - he was a radar systems engineer with GEC-Marconi
- and has since built himself a fully equipped workshop with lathe and milling
machine. As well as the 1933 Saloon, John has a 1924 Singer 10, which he bought at the Centenary Celebrations at Stoneleigh Abbey, and which he is now in the process of restoring. |

His other major hobby is astronomy and John has an observatory and several telescopes. In 1996 John was a part-time member of Richard Noble's team which won the World Land Speed Record with the Thrust SSC car. John says the job of treasurer is not particularly difficult and requires, at the most, 30 minutes per month, although there is always a bit of a scramble prior to the AGM to balance the account and prepare a statement for the meeting. ASCO has an account at the local branch of Lloyds TSB which is especially designed for societies and clubs. To contact John please use the website Message Pad | |||||
